From the producers of the award-winning, record breaking BET comedy THE GAME, GIRLFRIENDS and box-office hit SPARKLE comes the BET original movie BEING MARY JANE starring Gabrielle Union. Over the weekend, the Being Mary Jane tour rolled through Atlanta at the W Hotel. The acceptance was a resounding “we want more!”

Gabrielle Union’s character, Mary Jane Paul, seemingly has it all as a beautiful and successful TV news anchor. In reality, she’s a self-sufficient powerhouse with a lackluster love life who remains devoted to a family that doesn’t share her motivation. How far is she willing to go to find the puzzle pieces that she – and society – insist are missing from her life? Intense drama and unforgettable moments unfold as Mary Jane juggles her life, her relationships, her work and commitments to her family.

After watching the private screening, I instantly became a fan of Being Mary Jane. Mara wrote the script so cleverly and reveal a lot of our lady-secrets. She reveals everything we think but rarely say out loud when dealing with the opposite sex. Gabrielle did an amazing job with her character. I’d say this is definitely her best work to date.

Also starring Richard Roundtree, Margaret Avery, Lisa Vidal, Richard Brooks, Omari Hardwick, Tika Sumpter, Raven Goodwin, B.J. Britt, Aaron Spears, Latarsha Rose and Robinne Lee. Created by Mara Brock Akil and co-executive produced by Salim Akil.

BEING MARY JANE will premiere as a movie, but the series debut is slated for January 2014 on BET Networks. The highly anticipated television event premieres Tuesday, July 2nd at 10:30 P.M. EST on BET.
