If you’ve been missing from the tech world lately, you haven’t had the chance to really experience the new sensation that was known as Vine. Vine, a 6 to 7 second video sharing app became extremely popular amongst social media gurus around the world. Reports begin to surface that Vine had quickly become the fattest growing social media site outnumbering both Instagram and Twitter!
That was until Thursday afternoon. Instagram – the extremely popular photo sharing app – announced that it would be adding a video feature to it’s already addicting app features. Now, I’m sure you’re wondering what is so different about Instagram adding this feature, right? Well, don’t worry, we’ve got the details for you.
Hitting a whopping 5 million video uploads in one day, it turns out that the new app feature actually lets its users create 15 second videos opposed to the original 6 to 7 seconds designed by Vine. One big thing for many Instagram users is the fact that you will be able to continue using your filter options even with the video (and we all know how much people LOVE their filters).
A few other comparisons between the Vine and Instagram video options are the fact that Vine doesn’t require you to have open storage in your phone in order to create a movie while the Instagram option does. Also, Instagram doesn’t loop the videos either. Users of both Instagram and Vine have complained that Instagram will become too filled with videos and photos and will take away from what Instagram users fell in love with from the beginning. Others have made it clear that they will no longer be using the Vine app since Instagram has included everything that they need.
If you haven’t had the chance to update your iPhone or Android device, take a gander at the new Video on Instagram visual below. We’ll let you be the judge of keeping your Vine account or fully converting over to the Instagram app. Let us know what you think!
