Last night, La La Anthony signed copies of her new book at Barnes & Noble in Atlanta. “The Love Playbook” published in February of this year and has become #1 on the New York Times bestsellers list. Lala, who’s career started in Atlanta as a PA at Hot 97.5, has become the ultimate business woman. In 2012 she launched her make-up line for women of color, MOTIVES by La La. She’s also acted in several films including Think Like A Man, Baggage Claim, and the soon to be released Think Like A Man 2.
After briefly attending Howard University she later moved to LA, worked in radio and was asked to audition for MTV’s Total Request Live (TRL). Fast forward a few years and she’s happily married to NBA player Carmelo Anthony and they have an adorable son who I met, Kiyan. Her VH1 reality show, Lala’s Full Court Life, is one of the few that promotes family, business and healthy relationships…minus the drama.
Check out a few questions from our interview.
Since the book has launched, what do you think has been the biggest take-away from your readers?
Lala: I think the biggest take-away is that everything circles back to self love. I can give tons of tips and lessons, but at the end of the day it’s always about self love. Once you truly love yourself, that’s when you’ll attract the best relationship. Life in general will be well. That what the book is about and that’s why it’s done so well..it’s a topic that everyone wants and needs to talk about.
We’re a faith-based mag. Tell us the importance of having faith in your life.
Lala: My faith is definitely what keeps me strong and blessed. Faith is THEE most important thing. It’s funny you asked that, I asked Kiyan, “Who’s your best friend??” (Smiling and singing) He said, “God first, then daddy, they you!” So we definitely know how to keep it 100.
