Four years ago Lebron James announced he was going to take his talents to South Beach to play for the Heat. On Friday afternoon, Lebron announced he was returning home to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Two-time NBA Champion, Lebron James made his announcement in an open letter to Sports Illustrated’s website. In the letter, James thanked the Heat organization, coaches, and his teammates for four successful years in Miami.

“I’m not having a press conference or a party,” James said in article to SI.com. “After this it’s time to get back to work.”

The Miami Heat wasted no time in signing Chris Bosh to a new five year $118 million contract to keep him in a Heat uniform. The Houston Rockets had offered Bosh a four year $88 million dollar contract when Bosh opted out of his contract with the Heat last week.

Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, removed a letter criticizing James for leaving Cleveland fours years ago from the team’s website last week. James and Gilbert met last week to discuss the letter which mocked James’ many nicknames and criticized James for betraying the Cavaliers organization and city of Cleveland by signing with the Heat.

“I’ve met with Dan, face-to-face, man-to-man. We’ve talked it out. Everybody makes mistakes. I’ve made mistakes as well. Who am I to hold a grudge?” James said to SI.com.

The Heat are expected to work out a new contract with Lebron’s close friend and former teammate Dwayne Wade to keep him in a Heat uniform.

Lebron James will return to the team who drafted him with first pick in the 2003 NBA draft. James spent his first seven seasons in Cleveland where he won two MVP titles. James led the Cavaliers to the Finals in 2007 where they were swept in four games by the San Antonio Spurs. James is the Cavaliers all time scoring leader with 15,251 points.
