On Saturday March 7th, history was made. Tens of thousands came out to remember what happened on that historic day on Edmund Pettus Bridge.
In 1964, that day was filled with bodies, clouds of gas, trampling, screaming and wailing, batons breaking bones, and blood profusely running from head blows. It was a ‘Bloody Sunday’.
But on a peaceful, 70 degree day on March 7, 2015, it was a day of reflecting. It was a day of all nationalities and ages coming together to celebrate our victories as well as talk about where we need to go from here.
The evening concluded with BET/Centric hosting an amazing ‘Centric Celebrates Selma’ concert which airs Friday at 8PM EST.
Words cannot adequately describe the day. I will never forget.
