Dominion Entertainment Group and NeWFAM Entertainment invited Jubilee Mag to be a VIP guest — the first to hear the most anticipated Christmas CD of the year. The Black Nativity Soundtrack is power-packed with memorable performances by your favorite Black Nativity cast members, including Latrice Pace (The Anointed Pace Sisters), Q Parker (R&B group 112), Dathan Thigpen (winner of Sunday Best All-Stars), Zebulon Ellis (Sunday Best All-Stars Runner Up) and many more.
We enjoyed light hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and great company as we mixed & mingled with other VIP artists and media. The soundtrack listening party was hosted by 112’s Q Parker and he also acts in the stage production.
If you’re looking for something fun to do with the family, or a great date night, this is it! Black Nativity is a soul-stirring rendition of the Christmas Story that fills the theatre with thrilling voices, exciting dance and glorious gospel music. It is a powerful retelling of the Nativity story from an African-American perspective. The original Black Nativity was written in 1961 by poet Langston Hughes. The African-American viewpoint and gospel music make Black Nativity a unique performance piece. Often adapted, this one act version of the production will take the audience from a traditional black church to an Africanized Jerusalem through dance, powerful spirituals and anthems, and toe-tapping gospel numbers.
The play tells the story of Mary and Joseph’s journey through song and dance, culminating in a rousing finale surrounding the birth of Christ. The importance of the play is that, though an expression of Christian belief via the African-American perspective, the show appeals to all walks of life. Black Nativity is a well known holiday staple in many metropolitan areas including: New York, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco and Las Vegas.
After the soundtrack listening party, we headed in to the theatre for what was an amazing production. Black Nativity is showing now through December 18th in Atlanta. Click here for tickets and check out the pics below from opening night.
