Thanks, Obama is an idea that has evolved into a movement. Conceptualized as a grassroots effort to show appreciation and gratitude to the Nation’s 44th President on his last day of Office, Thanks, Obama has now garnered the support of over 100,000 people from across the world who wish to express their overwhelming support and genuine praise for a man who has withstood scrutiny, discrimination, and disrespect at every turn, yet still risen to the office of the presidency with a kind smile and open heart. A live and digital #ThanksObama event will take place on Thursday, January 19, 2017. The live event will take place at the SW Arts Club located at 700 Delaware Ave SW, Washington DC from 3:00pm – 8:00pm. Tickets can be purchased at www.SayThanksObama.com

The Thanks, Obama movement wants to honor the legacy left during President Obama’s term and celebrate in a unified celebration. “The Millions of new jobs created – Thanks, Obama. Increase in the average American worker’s weekly paycheck purchasing power – Thanks, Obama. Unemployment rate cut in half since 2009 – Thanks, Obama. Doing it all with dignity, charisma and positivity – Thanks, Obama” , states Thanks, Obama organizers.

The Thanks, Obama organizers and visionaries consist of Spelman College alum Bejide Davis (a corporate finance attorney in New York City) and Amanda Washington Lockett (a Ph.D.student at the University of Pennsylvania).

Becoming a viral sensation almost over night, the Thanks, Obama initiative has been featured on Huffington Post, The Root, DCist.com, NBC, and more. For those living or traveling to the DC area, the ticketed live event will take place on January 19th at the SW Arts Club and will consist of live performances, art expression, guest speakers and a count down to the largest round of applause event for a President. For those that would like to participate via their social media platforms, the organizers are encouraging participants to post a heartfelt thank you message and tag @BarackObama and use the hashtag #ThanksObama.
