The Georgia Entertainment industry is the fastest growing landscape for film and television in the country. Last August, Governor Nathan Deal announced that Georgia’s film industry had a $7 billion impact on Georgia’s economy in Fiscal Year 2016, an increase of $1 billion from FY 2015. Direct spending on the 245 movies and television shows filmed in the Peach State generated $2.02 billion in direct spending during the year.
On February 11th, the Georgia entertainment industry celebrated the accomplishments of some of the industry’s key players, including producers, actors and screenwriters. The black tie event brought together some of the most prestigious such as American media mogul Ted Turner, Actress Logan Browning, talent agent Barbara Garvey and more were awarded for their work in 2016. While the award ceremony was supported by Georgia community leaders, brands and organizations, attendees enjoyed live music, Hors D’oeuvres and much more.
The gala is headed by film producer Autumn Bailey, who created the gala from her initial belief in Atlanta’s contributions to the industry years before the success. Since the gala’s inception, Bailey has become a major player, producing several award-winning and notable films such as “Blackbird” and “Curveball.” “It’s been an honor for my team and I to serve the Georgia community this way. This really is about celebrating the accomplishments of the entire industry here in Georgia. We also look to be instrumental in bringing additional opportunities to the state. I’m indebted to the many amazing people, including Governor Deal who have supported the gala over the last four years. We anticipate this year being our biggest and brightest gala yet,” says Bailey.
