The nominees for the 48th NAACP Image Awards were announced this week and BOE/EMPIRE recording artist MAJOR. received a nomination for Outstanding New Artist.

Recording artist MAJOR. is Grammy Award Winning mega-producer Harmony Samuels’ new artist. MAJOR. Also recently received rave reviews while visiting Stevie Wonders’ radio station KJLH and the legendary radio station WBLS in New York. As a songwriter, MAJOR. has worked with artists such as Ariana Grande, Fantasia, Michelle Williams and The Walls Group. A graduate of Berklee, he has a message of hope and inspiration to aspiring young artists.

This past summer, MAJOR. teamed up with famed “GLEE” singer/actress Amber Riley for the world tribute song “#ChangeRightNow.” The song features a sample from one of President Barack Obama’s greatest speeches. The duo performed the song on the FOX daytime talk show, “THE PREACHERS.”

The NAACP Image Awards celebrates the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film and also honors individuals or groups who promote social justice through creative endeavors. Winners will be announced during the two-hour star-studded event hosted by Anthony Anderson, which will broadcast LIVE on TV ONE on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 9pm/8c as a two-hour special. A 90-minute pre-show will air live from the red carpet at 7:30pm/6:30c.
