I recently was invited to chat with Reunion Records/Sony CCM Christian artist Tauren Wells. Tauren is a two-time GRAMMY® nominee, collaborated with a variety of seasoned producers from the musical worlds of R&B, funk, pop, Gospel, urban and AC. Working alongside Chuck Butler, Jordan Sapp, Casey Brown, Colby Wedgeworth and Bernie Herms, Tauren also partnered with the production team of Chuck Harmony and Claude Kelly (Rhianna, Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson) for the deluxe edition bonus track “Supernatural.”
In July Tauren became the opening act for Lionel Richie‘s tour, All The Hits, with very special guest Mariah Carey. Yes…you read that right. A gospel/CCM artist touring with two pop icons is huge! Definitely a win for the culture. We don’t put artists in a box here at Jubilee Mag. We think lineups like this is needed, necessary and we should see more of this. Hitting the biggest arenas in 22 markets across the U.S. and Canada, the tour kicked off July 21 in Oakland, CA and will conclude September 5 in Seattle, WA.
Immediately following the All The Hits tour, Tauren will join Air1’s Positive Hits Tour this fall. For the most updated information and tour dates, please visit his website at TaurenWellsOfficial.com.
“Hills And Valleys,” the title track from the new album and the current single, is a top five-selling track in Christian music and already climbing to the top 10 at radio.
Tauren is a husband, a father of two (plus one on the way) and a super cool guy. We met up at Radio One in Atlanta and had a dope discussion about balancing marriage with his career as an artist, his thoughts on collaborations like Tasha Cobbs and Nicki Minaj and what the church needs to do about the current racial climate in America.
