I was recently invited to speak on the panel at FLY GIRLS ROCK at North Clayton High School in Atlanta. FLY GIRLS ROCK is a program hosted by girls mentorship program FLY SPIRIT INC. that is designed to ignite young women and help them recognize their worth and redefine their identity. Created by author/artist/speaker Fly Musiq, FLY GIRLS ROCK changes lives.
Panelists were myself, Jazmine Scroggins (Miss Black USA), actress Hope Long (The Game/Let’s Stay Together), Caseme (recording artist), Samantha Major (poet), Korin Deanna (recording artist) and more. The event was DJ’d by Queen Coco.
A make-over was done on a girl who was being bullied on social media and at school. Above all the things I do in media, sharing wisdom and changing lives is my #1 priority. I’ll never forget this day.
“I’m from this area. Someone gave me the tools to make it out, so it’s my mission to make sure I pass those tools along. Some of the issues the girls are dealing with are teen pregnancy and molestation. Suicide is real, low self-esteem is real, sex at an early age is real here. At the end of the day love, hope and faith are REAL-ER!” – Fly Musiq
Teen pregnancy is high at the school and self esteem is at an all time low. A make-over was done on a girl who was being bullied on social media and at school. Above all the things I do in media, sharing wisdom and changing lives is my #1 priority. I’ll never forget this day. Thanks so much for the invite Fly Musiq and for creating a life-changing event.
