I’m always on the lookout for quality artists who have something to say. When a friend told me about MAJOR. (spelled in all caps with a period), I jumped at the opportunity to interview him.
MAJOR. is an eclectic blend of soulful pop and big band, with the style and grace of timeless classics. He’s known as the Hope Dealer because his lyrics are laced with just that…HOPE. His latest single “Hit the Road” featuring Mali Music is about overcoming setbacks as he sings, “trouble won’t do it no more,” “heartache, no I won’t take it no more,” and “the weight of the world won’t make me crumble.” My personal favorite, “Baby Baby Come On”, will make you get up and get your two-step on! MAJOR.’s music and vocals have also been featured in films like the James Brown biopic Get on Up and Think Like a Man Too.
As one of the worship leaders at Pastor Toure’ Robert’s One Church International in L.A., one of the lessons he learned was that true purpose is fulfilled only by way of wholeness. Pastor Toure’ inspired MAJOR. personally to commit his message and life cause to dealing hope to all he encounters.
The Berklee College of Music graduate has a true gift. If you scroll through his Instagram, you’ll see him receiving praises from Erica Campbell, Lalah Hathaway, Jonathan McReynolds and more.
During our interview we talked about how he’d like to see the industry change as a result of him coming on the scene, what he thinks it takes to make relationships work and so much more. Listen to our interview, ‘Hit the Road’ featuring Mali Music and more below!
The vocals on MAJOR.’s spin of ‘Like A G6’ is amazing. “Popping bottles of Pellegrino and Martinelli’s…” Hilarious!
